Care Instructions

Thank you for buying a Cozmo sofa - we hope you’re going to spend many happy years together.

Your sofa has been made by expert craftsmen using quality materials, sustainably sourced and designed to last. To keep it looking as fresh as the day it was delivered, here are our top tips for protecting and maintaining its good looks.

Our sofa fabrics are chosen for their durability and practicality, as well as their wonderful colours and textures, and are easy to clean and designed to cope with everyday living as well as the occasional accident – coffee, wine, ice cream…

From our timeless cotton and weave to sumptuous velvet, each of our fabrics has its own unique features and care instructions when cleaning but some (easy) regular maintenance is all it takes to keep the dirt and dust at bay.

Regular cleaning:

The amount of dust that accumulates in your home will vary depending on whether you have carpets or hard floors, but it’s a good idea to dust your sofa’s jackets every week or so with a soft brush or with a vacuum cleaner on a low setting; if left to accumulate, the dust will degrade the fabric and shorten its life span as well giving it a grubby appearance. Always protect your sofa from direct sunlight as its colour will fade and deteriorate over time

Spot cleaning:

Spills and stains need to be dealt with immediately and each of our fabrics has its own unique composition and care requirements. While some of our fabrics use technology to make light work of stain removal, most spills can be removed with just kitchen paper, water and a little soap.

Cleaning your jackets:

We suggest cleaning all of the covers at the same time to avoid any variations in colour over time.

Weave

Our weave come with FibreGuard Stain Free Technology, making it easy to spot clean, and removing spills and stains immediately will ensure the best result.

For most stains, such as tea, coffee and wine, simply blot the spill with kitchen paper, spray with a little water and blot again until the stain has gone completely before drying with a soft, colour-fast cloth; pen marks can be treated in the same way.

For mud, chocolate, cake or ketchup, remove any residue with a spoon or knife before blotting and spraying as above. If you have a tougher stain, a small amount of standard, white, household soap, can be used. Watch the FibreGuard video here.

Recycled Cotton

Our recycled cotton jackets benefit from a green EasyClean finish, achieved through a unique breathable Teflon ‘EcoElite’ TM coating – the first plant-based repellent for fabrics.

As with our weave fabric, for most stains, such as tea, coffee or wine, simply blot the spill with kitchen paper, spray with a little water and blot again until the stain has gone completely before drying with a soft, colour-fast cloth. For mud, chocolate, cake or ketchup, remove any residue with a spoon before blotting and spraying as above.

For persistent stains, apply a little white household soap to the area before blotting and spraying as above.

Velvet

Our velvet jackets have an EasyClean finish that means spills don’t immediately soak into the fabric but bead on the surface, giving you more time to spot clean the fabric. Removing spills immediately ensures the best result: simply blot the spill with kitchen paper, spray with a little water and blot again until the stain has gone completely before drying with a soft, colour-fast cloth. For persistent stains, apply a little white household soap to the area before repeating the process above.

Fleece, Boucle & Textured Weave

Our fleece, boucle and textured weave jackets can be spot cleaned with upholstery shampoo, foam from a mild detergent or mild dry cleaning solvent. Pretest a small, inconspicuous area before proceeding. Do not saturate. Hot water extraction or steam cleaning is not a recommended cleaning method. To prevent overall soiling, frequent vacuuming or light brushing to remove dust and grime is recommended.

When cleaning a spill, blot immediately to remove spilled material. Clean spots or stains from the outside to the middle of affected area to prevent circling.

Fitting your sofa jackets:

Our quick-change jackets are super easy to fit, but if you’re having any difficulties, take a look at our assembly page or just email us at hello@mycozmo.com.

Frames:

Cozmo sofa frames are hand built from FSC-certified solid birch wood and birch plywood and subjected to regulatory strength tests. We are so confident in their quality and durability that we provide a 15-year guarantee on our frames.

Cushions:

Our seat cushions are made from a clever combination of high density foam and memory foam topped with European duck feathers. They are designed to keep their shape for a long time, but giving them the occasional plumping will help them maintain their good looks.
